Black and Tan (and Pink!)

sweater, Banana Republic (old, similar here); necklace, vintage (very similar--and cheap!--here);
sunnies, c/o Versace; skirt, Zara (similar here and here); bag, Marc Jacobs; tights, Gap;
boots (on major SALE!), Giuseppe Zanotti for Thakoon

Makeup: c/o: Estee Lauder Invisible Fluid Foundation (out March)Maybelline New York Dream Bouncy Blush in Fresh Pink; Laura Mercier Lip Glace in Camellia (out spring, similar shade from Tarte available now here); L.A. Splash Nail Polish in Blowfish Hot Pink; DIY blowout
Boots by Giuseppe Zanotti for Thakoon

I love the combination of black and tan worn together, though truth be told, it can easily look blah if you're not careful. So, it's times like this when breaking out some colorful makeup will make a huge difference. Here, I used the neutral clothing as a sort of backdrop and then punctuated it with hot pink nail polish and some Barbie-pink lipgloss. This way, the bold pinks stand out, but they don't compete with the clothes. It's also a fun way to try the matchy-matchy thing, subtly.

And, um, can we talk about these shoes?? Get this: They were a Christmas present from my husband and he picked them out himself. I couldn't believe it--I love them! They work amazingly well with skirts or jeans, and they are incredibly, deceptively comfortable--especially for such a tall, skinny heel. But here's the best part: They are on major, major sale (I'm talking over half-off major) right now, right here. Run don't walk.

Your blog is adorable! I'm loving your bright pink nail polish + pink lips in contrast with those edgy boots! And gotta love when boots/heels are deceptively comfortable...!

Loving your blog! I see you're now using the Estee Lauder Invisible Fluid Foundation instead of the Chanel Perfection Lumiere. How are you liking this new foundation as opposed to the Perfection Lumiere?

I actually love both foundations and switch between the two. I find the Chanel has a bit more coverage so it's good for days I'm breaking out and have a bit more to hide. The Lauder still has coverage but a bit less so it's great for my good-skin-days! :)
