I'm heading off to a big beauty industry conference down in Florida later this week, and I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to busting out my sundresses, sandals, and bright punchy colors. (I've already painted my toes neon orange to get them in the warm-weather spirit!) But until I leave, it's still cold weather and wintery colors for me. This gray and navy outfit has been one of my go-tos lately for work: A very ladylike navy shift dress (it's jazzed up with lots of pearls and sparkliness at the neckline, which somehow managed to be all but invisible in every photo..!) that I've toughened up with chunky booties and a gray pleather jacket (btw, it's crazy soft and under $40--I mean, c'mon...!). Then, I've added a few favorite jewels, a beachy-wavy blowout (I'm on Day Two of it here and counting--shhh!), and a goldish-greenish mani. (That neon pedi is hiding out somewhere in there just waiting to make its debut!) I love this serene, almost stormy palette, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't excited for hot pink, yellow... and sunshine. :) Tell me: Do you tend to wear different colors in different seasons? And what are some of your favorite color combinations in the winter?

You look great, Alyssa! Love the day 2 hair.... personally I always think my hair looks better on the second day, anyway! I love gray and navy during the winter - and find myself wearing a lot of black (which is usually abnormal for me, as I really prefer brights!)

I do wear different colors in different seasons. But I get anxious to wear the next season's colors before the current season is over. Right now, I really want a wine-red jacket, which I drooled over from NYFW pics...but I do have my eye on a new green handbag. Have a safe trip to Florida! It's awfully warm down here.

In fall/winter I really adore navy and black together. I often throw in a gray accent, such as a jacket or scarf. I do love gray, period, and in the warmer months I like to pair it with bright pink, purple or yellow for a fun vibe.

Taylor: I'm exactly the same way! I get SO anxious to wear the next season's colors. Right now I'm dyyyying to wear these lemon yellow jeans I recently bought but they just feel too summery. So i'm counting the days! :)

I do change my colors depending on the season. I lived most of my life on the East Coast, so Fall and Winter I love black and grey. Summer was whatever colors were in the store, usually blue. In 2003 I moved to Southern Cali, and that totally changed my ideas about color. I bought a lot of colors there, no matter what the season. I fell in love with color. Now that I live on the East Coast again, I still wear black and grey in the winter, but there's always a pop of color. It's too fun to do without.
Have fun in Florida!

I usually stick to neutrals during the colder months. However, around this time of year I'm so anxious for warm weather that I start breaking out bright and bold colors in small doses! For example, I just wore a neon citron cami under a blazer a couple of weeks ago. Plus, I'm typing away right now with a spring-like green polish at my fingertips.

Anyway, you're so lucky to take a trip to FL right now!

Btw, I just happened upon your blog about a month or so ago and I LOVE it!! :-)
