A sleeveless leather dress is one of those purchases that seems like a good idea when you buy it--but can end up being problematic when it comes time to wear it. (Weather tends to be a huge issue with a dress like this--it somehow always manages to be too hot or too cold to wear the thing.) This is exactly what happened with me and this dress. I nabbed it after spotting it on Emily of Cupcakes & Cashmere. Then it hung in my closet. And hung. And hung. Finally, I dragged it off the hanger after weeks of dormancy and decided to play around with layering. For me, this was the perfect solution. I threw it over a striped blouse, and once it was a little more covered up, it became an ideal piece for spring. In a few weeks, I'll lose the top and wear it on its own. And next winter, I'll try putting it over a thin sweater and adding chunky-knit tights. Suddenly one of the most perplexing pieces in my closet has become one of the most versatile. I'd say that qualifies as problem solved.

I love Equipment tops! Especially in bright colors. I would have never thought to buy a sleeveless leather dress but the way you've styled it makes it so fun :)

I can sympathize with you because I have a few items in my wardrobe that I've struggled with incorporating into a wearable outfit. Usually layering is a great solution :)
