Five years ago, when she turned one, I didn't have a blog. I didn't have Instagram. I wasn't worried about creating Pinterest-worthy content. I just wanted to throw a fun party. And I ended up throwing a pretty darn cute one if I do say so myself!
The theme was My Little Sunshine, because it used to be one of my favorite songs to sing to her. (BTW, am I the only person who finds that song kind of depressing? It totally makes me cry!)
At the party, we had yellow desserts (macarons homemade by my mom!), sunshine-themed drinks (Sol beer!), and lots of sunny decor (loved this easy-to-clean checked tablecloth! Plus, it was pretty convenient that our dining room--we lived in Williamsburg, Brooklyn back then--was already painted yellow.)
The favors for the adults were sun-shaped cookies (made by my mom!); the kids got little sand pails with a stuffed duckie, a finger puppet, and the cookies.
My daughter had her first taste of cupcake that day. And I had my first taste of planning a birthday party.
And now we're both hooked. :)
What do you guys think? And can anyone guess the theme for my daughter's sixth birthday party this weekend? (Here's a hint: It's a mash-up of two themes...)

I love this! It's such a unique theme, and so warm and happy. That song also makes me cry. I can't wait to see what the 6th birthday looks like. I always love seeing your party pics.

What a beautiful and heartfelt celebration! It sounds like your "My Little Sunshine" birthday party was full of warmth, creativity, and personal touches. I absolutely love the sunshine-themed elements, especially the sun-shaped cookies and yellow desserts!
For a unique twist, how about incorporating Birthday Neon Signs into the decor? A glowing "You Are My Sunshine" sign would add a magical touch to the party and perfectly complement the sunny vibe. Neon signs can make the space feel even more vibrant and fun, while also being a wonderful photo backdrop for those special moments. It’s a great way to make your party shine even brighter!
Your "My Little Sunshine" birthday party sounds absolutely adorable! The yellow cupcakes and sunshine decor must have made for such a cheerful celebration. For a fun twist, consider decorating the bedroom with some Birthday Neon Signs. They can add a vibrant pop of color and make the space feel extra festive for the big day! It’s a great way to keep the sunshine vibes going, even after the party’s over.
