Easy Like Sunday Morning (a.k.a. What I Wore To Brunch Last Weekend)

Ace & Jig dress (also LOVE it in this print. And there's a cute short version of it here!). Kate Spade sunglasses. Kooba bag (on sale! also on sale here!). Marc by Marc Jacobs sandals (on sale!). Miansai screw cuff bracelet. Apple Watch.

Nail polish: Essie Wicked. Photos by Bradford Kolsky

Wanted to share my outfit from this past weekend as it has become one of my go-tos. On Sunday I wore it to Father's Day brunch (with my parents, brothers, husband, and kids in tow), but I've worn the exact same thing shopping, to a blogger conference, even to work!

I love this uber-comfy dress because it's roomy but not schlubby. I threw it on with these flat buckle sandals (that feel a few steps up from my usual white Birks), this cool gold bracelet that I wear nearly every day now, and of course, my Apple watch! (That, truth be told, I'm still totally getting used to and trying to figure out...!)

And this bag. Oh this bag! It might as well be attached to my arm--I carry it nearly every day now. It holds a TON (umbrella, change of shoes, random papers, beauty products I'm toting to and from the office, extra diapers, and so on), and I love that it has two big outside pockets so I never have to root through it all when I need to find my Metrocard or work I.D.

What is your go-to work outfit these days? And does anyone else out there have the Apple watch? If so, what do you think? I'm still learning how to use mine.

Monday Wish List

What I Want Right Now From DVF, Marc Jacobs, Kate Spade, and more

Today New York is supposedly getting a snowstorm they're predicting to be "crippling and historic." Oy. But before I start psychologically preparing myself for being cooped up inside with two bored children (send help! and extra iPad chargers!), I'm taking a moment to dream of warmer, sunnier times. And that's making me covet this dress (it's perfect for work or even drinks), this pretty top (I'd wear it to dress up these--under $100!--jeans), and these cool, blue Marc Jacobs sunglasses (such a fun twist on the classic aviator shape).

Here's a few more things I'm looking forward to busting out once the Snowpocalypse is over. In the meantime, stay warm!

Wish List: Mint Shoes, Necklaces, and Nail Polish

mint

Top row from left: Ban.do iPhone backup battery; Gold & Gray necklace; Marc By Marc Jacobs bracelet; Zoe Karssen sweatshirt (and the same print in pants!); Baublebar necklace. Bottom row from left: Essie nail polish in Mint Candy Apple; Birkenstock sandals; Amalfi espadrilles; Converse sneakers; Rafe clutch

Perhaps it's inspired by the ever-so-brief glimpses of spring weather that we've finally started to get--or one of my all-time favorite nail polish shades, Essie Mint Candy Apple (I seriously live in it in the summer!)--but I'm totally into the idea of mint right now. Cool, fresh, zingy--this happy color is making me crave a sweet new necklace, this amazing flatiron, and ok, a scoop of mint chocolate chip ice cream, too.

What colors are you guys totally into right now?

9 Cool Scrunchies (Yes, Really)

Yesterday, when reading this piece on the return of the scrunchie, I just had to laugh. One of my deepest, darkest (beauty) secrets--one of the ugly little truths that I thought I'd never share is that...I've never really given them up.

Yep. I wear still wear scrunchies. (Does this mean my beauty editor license is going to be revoked?)

Now before you lose too much respect for me, here's a big disclaimer: I don't wear them in public. (Well, that time I forgot to take one out and accidentally wore it to Dunkin' Donuts not withstanding.) But in the privacy of my own home? Love 'em. Love. Them.

Nothing's better for holding your hair back while you sleep, and since they don't leave weird marks or bends, they're especially awesome for corralling a fresh blowout. Plus, they're super gentle on your hair, so there's way less breakage than with an elastic. Nevertheless, because of their unfortunate place in pop culture, they've always remained purely a behind-closed-doors accessory for me.

That might be changing. You see, somehow, at some point, scrunchies apparently became cool. And we're talking a Missoni and Marc Jacobs level of cool. Yep, we're now seeing designer scrunchies that I pretty much guarantee are fancier than anything you wore in sixth grade.

I'm not sure if I'm ready to go there quite yet, so until then, I'll keep rocking my American Apparel versions. At home. While I sleep.

Do you ever wear scrunchies at home? What about it public? If not, will these cool ones change your mind? Tell me below!
